Our Funders

The Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust (ACCT) has received generous support from a variety of sources, enabling us to restore and transform the historic Courthouse and Guildry buildings into a vibrant, accessible community hub

Major Funders

Scottish Land Fund
The Scottish Land Fund supported the early stages of the project, enabling us to carry out a feasibility study and secure the acquisition of the Courthouse building. This crucial first step allowed the community to take ownership of the building and begin planning its long-term future.

Angus Council – Town Centre Fund
Funding from Angus Council’s Town Centre Fund enabled extensive public consultation and community engagement. It also supported the appointment of structural engineers and architects, building surveys, early remedial works, and the development of a robust Business Plan to guide the project forward.

Northwood Trust
Support from the Northwood Trust has contributed to Phase 1 of the development, focusing on essential roof repairs and restoration work to stabilise and protect the building.

The Robertson Trust
The Robertson Trust has supported the first phase of restoration, helping fund critical roof repairs and ensuring the long-term preservation of this important historic asset.

Scottish Government / Angus Council – Place-Based Investment Fund
Through the Place-Based Investment Fund, the Scottish Government and Angus Council have supported major Phase 1 restoration works, particularly roof repairs and structural improvements that are essential to safeguarding the building.

Historic Environment Scotland
Historic Environment Scotland has provided significant support for the repair and restoration of the Courthouse. This includes roofing works, restoration of exterior stonework, and internal repair and conservation works, ensuring the historic character of the building is carefully preserved.

The National Lottery Community Fund
The National Lottery Community Fund is supporting the appointment of a Community Development and Facilities Manager for three years. This role is vital in ensuring that the Courthouse becomes a vibrant, inclusive community space shaped by local needs and activities.

Community Asset Capital Grant Fund (UK Government / Angus Council)
Support from the Community Asset Capital Grant Fund is helping deliver external repair and restoration work, particularly to the Courthouse’s historic stonework.

Seagreen Community Fund
The Seagreen Community Fund is contributing to Phase 2 external repairs, supporting the restoration of the building’s exterior and helping to protect it for the future.

Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (Scottish Government)
The Regeneration Capital Grant Fund is supporting extensive external and internal restoration works, helping transform the Courthouse into a sustainable, accessible and welcoming community facility.

Inspiring Scotland (Scottish Government)
Inspiring Scotland is supporting the creation of a fully accessible Changing Places Toilet within the refurbished Courthouse. This will ensure the building is inclusive and accessible to people with complex disabilities and their carers.

Building an Incredible Community Space for Arbroath

Together, this collective investment is enabling the transformation of the historic Courthouse and Guildry buildings into a welcoming, inclusive and sustainable community hub. The funding supports not only the preservation of an important heritage asset, but the creation of flexible spaces for meetings, events, learning, exhibitions, performances and social connection. It is helping shape a facility that reflects the needs, ambitions and creativity of the Arbroath community.

As restoration progresses, the Courthouse is becoming more than a repaired building, it is developing into a shared civic space that will serve Arbroath for generations to come.
