Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust is committed to operating in a transparent, inclusive and responsible way. The following policies explain how we work, how we protect people’s rights and wellbeing, and how we meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a Scottish charity.

For the purposes of data protection legislation, the Trust is the data controller.

Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We may collect personal information such as names, contact details, correspondence, event registrations and donation records. We do not store full payment card details.

Personal data may be collected when you contact us, make a donation, sign up for updates, register for events, or use our website.

We use personal data to respond to enquiries, administer donations and events, communicate about our activities, improve our services, and meet legal and regulatory obligations.

Our lawful bases for processing data include consent, legitimate interests, legal obligation and contractual necessity.

We do not sell or trade personal data. We may share data with trusted third parties such as website hosting providers or donation platforms, only where necessary and with appropriate safeguards in place.

Safeguarding Policy

Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who engages with our activities, services and facilities.

We recognise our responsibility to safeguard children, young people and protected adults from harm, abuse or exploitation. This policy applies to trustees, volunteers, contractors and anyone acting on behalf of the Trust.

We promote a culture of respect and safety, take safeguarding concerns seriously, respond promptly and appropriately, and act in line with relevant Scottish legislation and guidance.

Safeguarding concerns may include abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying, harassment or any behaviour that causes harm or distress.

Concerns should be reported as soon as possible to the Trust’s Safeguarding Lead.

Concerns will be handled sensitively and confidentially and reported to statutory authorities where appropriate.

Equality and Diversity Policy

Complaints Policy

We aim to provide high-quality services and welcome feedback. Complaints help us improve and are taken seriously.

Complaints should be made in writing by email or post and should include contact details and a description of the issue.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 5 working days and respond within 20 working days. Complaints may be reviewed by the trustees where appropriate. Making a complaint will not disadvantage you in any way.

Donations and Refunds Policy

All donations received are used to support the charitable purposes of Arbroath Courthouse Community Trust.

If a donation has been made in error, please contact us as soon as possible. Refund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Donor information is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and is not shared or sold.

Review of policies

These policies are reviewed periodically by the trustees to ensure they remain accurate, effective and compliant with Scottish charity law and OSCR expectations.
